Purpose – This study aims to develop high-performance truck trailer supports using polyamide PA6, a
thermoplastic material renowned for its mechanical strength, durability and adaptability to extreme conditions.
By analysing the material’s properties and exploring manufacturing methodssuch asinjection moulding and 3D

printing, the research seeks to optimise the design and production of supports capable of withstanding heavy-
duty mechanical stresses. The ultimate goal is to provide the transport industry with reliable, cost-effective and

durable solutions that meet safety standards and performance demands, ensuring enhanced operational
efficiency and resilience in challenging environments.
Design/methodology/approach – The study investigates the design and production of truck trailer supports
using polyamide PA6, chosen for its high mechanical strength, thermal stability, and resistance to wear and
chemical exposure. The research evaluates manufacturing techniques, including injection moulding and 3D
printing, to optimise part performance and durability under heavy-duty mechanicalstresses. Emphasisis placed

on designing supports capable of enduring harsh environmental conditions while ensuring safety and cost-
efficiency. By leveraging the superior properties of PA6, the study aims to develop reliable solutions that meet

the transport industry’s stringent performance and economic requirements.

Findings – The study confirms that using PA6 polyamide for truck trailer supports is an innovative and cost-
effective solution, offering superior mechanical performance and environmental resistance. A detailed analysis

of PA6 properties and manufacturing methodsrevealsitssuitability as a robust and durable alternative for trailer
supports. This integration marks a significant advancement in improving trailer efficiency and performance
while maintaining quality standards. The findings underscore the importance of leveraging technological
advancementsto address challengesin innovation and sustainability, supporting the growth of the transport and
logistics sector.
Originality/value – Thisstudy introduces an innovative approach to designing truck trailersupports by utilising
polyamide PA6, highlighting its superior mechanical properties and environmental resilience. By combining
material analysis with advanced manufacturing techniques, such as injection moulding and 3D printing, the
research provides a novel framework for producing durable, cost-effective components tailored to the transport
industry’s demands. The originality lies in the integration of PA6 into heavy-duty applications, showcasing its
potential to enhance performance, efficiency and sustainability. This work adds significant value by addressing

The study examines Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloys, vital in aeronautics and automotive sectors. Use of Pitzer’s model to calculate thermodynamic properties of aqueous electrolyte solutions of sulfuric acid.

Failure of overhead power lines usually occurs through conductor creep after several years of service. The best solution to investigate the creep behavior of the conductor in a very short time is to perform a creep test in the laboratory using a creep machine. In this present work, a fabricated horizontal creep testing machine was presented and tested by performing creep testing on electric aluminum wire used for the construction of overhead power lines. The different parts of this machine have been described. The main feature of this machine is the displacement acquisition system and the possibility of performing any test. The creep results obtained in this machine confirmed its good performance. The failure behavior of the aluminium wire was characterized by scanning electron microscopy.

The effect of a pre (before) and post (after) heating welding treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the scrap blades made of cast INC738LC superalloy is the main goal of the present investigation. The filler used in TIG welding was a INC 625 solution hardened superalloy as the proposed solution for hot cracking of the INC738LC cast superalloy in literature. The TIG welding was processed with respect to the constantly optimized parameters (current, voltage, speed, gas flux rate and number of passes) to make a mechanical properties comparison between the as received superalloy and the welded superalloy with heat treated specimens. The characterization techniques employed in this study are hardness measurements, tensile tests, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. We found that the proposed preheating improves the TIG welding of the INC 738 LC superalloy specimens and the post welding heat treatment enhances its mechanical properties.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to present the effect of the aging at 200°C on creep and hardening behavior of hardenable 6101 aluminum alloy manufactured by an industrial wiredrawing process used for construction of self-supporting overhead aerial power line conductors.
Design/methodology/approach
The creep tests were carried out under applied constant stress 100 MPa and constant temperature 150°C. Hardness measurements were also used to investigate the mechanical behavior of the aged alloy. Micrographs of the fractured wires by creep tests were performed by scanning electron microscope. Electrical resistivity of the aged alloy was measured at different time of the aging treatment.
Findings
The authors have found the relationship between the precipitation sequence, the mechanical properties and the electrical resistivity of aged 6101 aluminum alloy.
Originality/value
The optimum properties were also deduced.

The purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate welding parameters especially ‘supply energy’ on tensile behavior of welded Ni-base superalloy INC738LC, welded by a solution strengthened wire INC625 as filler using TIG welding technique. The supply energy (welding current), welding speed, impulse frequency, weld remelting number and grooves are the parameters of tungsten inert gas (TIG) arc welding. In this study the supply energy of TIG welding is the essential parameter which was taken as the unique variable (300 Watts, 400 Watts and 500 Watts) and the other parameters were kept constants. Welded specimens were investigated using tensile tests, Vickers’s micro-hardness tests. The results from the mechanical properties of welded joints show that the optimum weld supply energy was found to be 400 Watts.

This paper is a contribution to the study of the microstructure in welded joint of INC 738 LC. It presents the microstructures obtained after real welding and also after thermal cycle simulation of welding by rapid heating and cooling treatments in specific simulation equipment. We were focusing on the temperature range [900°C, 1100°C] which is the temperature range of main phases occurrence, as coarse γ’primary, fine γ’ secondary and carbides. Optical microscopy and microhardness measurements were used as characterization techniques. We have found that the obtained microstructures by thermal cycle simulation of welding correspond to those observed in the same zone of the real welded joint performed by real welding.

Purpose
The Ni-base superalloy INC738LC is a precipitation strengthened alloy and is widely used in hot sections of gas turbine engines owing to its excellent high-temperature strength and high hot corrosion resistance. The purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate welding current of Ni-base superalloy INC738LC after two passes of applying the tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding technique.
Design/methodology/approach
Ni-base superalloy INC738LC plates were joined by TIG welding technique by varying the welding current (30, 40 and 50 A). Welded specimens were investigated using optical microscopy, tensile tests, Vickers’s micro-hardness tests and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Optical microscopy was used to characterize fusion zone, heat-affected zone and base metal. Tensile test was conducted to characterize weld strength by determining ultimate tensile strength. Scanning electron microscopy was used to investigate the fracture surfaces after tensile tests. Micro-hardness test was conducted to characterize the welded joint. XRD was applied to determine precipitates formed after welding.
Findings
The ultimate tensile strength results show that the optimum weld current out of the three weld currents was found to be 40 A, which is the closest to that of the base metal.

Many researchers have worked to optimize welding parameters such as current and speed from the microstructural observations and mechanical properties of welded joints. The optimum weld current out of the three weld currents was found to be 40 A.
